Marriage bond between Charles Jones & Deborah Somers:

“Know all Men by these Presents, That we, Charles Jones and John Garland, both of Monkton in the county of Westmorland, yeomen
Are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Thomas Carleton Esquire. Lt Gov and Commander in chief of the province of N.B. and his successors in the said office in the sum of 500 pounds current money of the said province to be paid to the said Lt Gov and Commander in chief of the said province and his successors as aforesaid for which administrators and every of them and of us jointly and severally firmly by these presents. Sealed with their seals, and dated this 4th day of November in the year of our Lord 1805
The condition of this obligation is such that whereas license has been this day granted to solemnize the marriage between the said Charles Jones and Deborah Summers [hard to read surname] of Monkton, single woman
Now therefore if there shall not at any time appear to have been at the date hereof any let or impediment of precontract or consanguinity or any legal bar to render unlawful the solemnization of the said marriage between the said parties, then this obligation to be void or else to remain in full force and virtue."
