“Gertrude Lillian (Jones) StilesThe death of Mrs. Gertrude L. Stiles, wife of Bruce Stiles, 331 Robinson Street, occurred yesterday morning in the Moncton Hospital after a lengthy illness.
She was born in Steeves Mountain, 54 years ago [b. abt 1899], a daughter of the later Mr. and Mrs. Hector Jones [Hector & Aurelia Annie (Steeves) Jones]. A member of the Highfield United Baptist Church as well as a member of the Grand Linge Missionary Society, Mrs. Stiles was also a past noble grand of Pearl Rebekah Lodge, of this city.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Gerald, Saint John, and a daughter, Mrs. R.W. Stackhouse [Raymond Walter Stackhouse & Marion Lilian Stiles], North Vancouver, B.C., two grand children; three sisters, Mrs. I.J. Dalshaug [Ingman Joseph Dalshaug & Aleta Mildred Jones], Saskatoon, Mrs. J.A. Girouard [Joseph Alyre Girouard & Daisy Helena Jones], Verdun, P.Q., and Mrs. Alma Steeves [Alma Rhoda Steeves], Centre Blissville, N.B., and one brother Kenneth Jones, Indian Mountain.
The body is resting in Tuttle Brothers Slumber Parlor. The funeral service will be held in the Tuttle Brothers Funeral Chapel, Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The body will be placed in the Elmwood Cemetery vault until the spring.” [Daily Times, Friday, 9 Jan 1953, p. 10]
