“Ancestors of my Sherman line have passed to me an old daguerreotype of a painting of a person they think is Caleb Sherman b. 1785, son of Ring and Mary Sherman of Salisbury. On the back of the daguerreotype is stamped "T. R. Colpitts", Photographer. I found T. R. Colpitts in Portland, Main and acquired a copy of his death certificate. I also see that you have a copy of the Colpitts Reunion of 1900 on your website and note that T. R. Colpitts, photographer from Portland, Maine, took a picture of the reunion gathering.”208
