“Robert served in World War 1 as a Lieutenant in the Canadian Light Trench Mortar Battery Regiment, 5th Unit.
His Grave/Memorial Reference is VI.H. and he his buried at the Railway Dugouts Burial Ground, (Transport Farm) near leper town centre, Belgium

Robert was accepted in the Canadian army for overseas on February 20, 1915. At the time he volunteered he was single and lists his occupation as "Accountant". He had been an active member of the milita, in the 74th Regiment, for 2 years prior to volunteering for overseas duty.
At the time of his enlistment he was 5ft., 5 ins. tall, with dark complexi on, blue eyes, and dark brown hair.”93
