Notes for Caroline Steeves
It is assumed that this Caroline Steeves who married William S. Colpitts was the same as the Caroline Steeves who was the daughter of Christian and Christianna on the 1851 census in Moncton, simply because she is of precisely the same age and we can find no other Caroline Steeves’s of that age. Although this means she came from Moncton and ended up in Elgin, this fits with the fact that Christian Steeves’ family moved to Elgin in 1855. It remains otherwise unverified however at this time and Caroline doesn’t seem to have named any children after her parents...
