“Frank D. HopeDeath Calls Frank D. Hope, Engineer at Pumping Station -- Stricken With Pneumonia About Two Months Ago -- Was Former City Building Inspector and Charter Member of No. 4 Hose Company
Moncton City lost a faithful and conscientious official yesterday in the passing of Mr. Frank D. Hope, one of the engineers of the new pumping station and for several years Building Inspector. His death occurred at his home, 13 Norwood Avenue about 4 o'clock yesterday afternoon following an illness of about two months of pneumonia and complications.
The deceased was a native of Steeves Mountain and was 50 years of age. He had resided in Moncton the greater part of his life and had been in the service of the city for some 17 years, 8 of which he was Building Inspector and the balance as engineer at the pumping station. Of a quiet and unassuming disposition, the late Mr. Hope was held in high esteem by all who knew him. In religion he was a Baptist and a faithful member of Highfield Church, also the Men's Brotherhood. [...]
The late Mr. Hope leaves to mourn their loss, his wife, formerly Miss Lottie Jones, of Steeves Mountain; 3 sons and 3 daughters. The sons are Russell, of Sumner Co.'s staff, Douglas and Lloyd, at home. The daughters are Kay, of the T. Eaton Co.'s staff, Mildred and Marguerite, at home. Two brothers, Trueman, of Moncton, and Clarance, of Steeves Mountain, as well as 3 sisters, Mrs. Guy Steeves, of Salsibury; Mrs. Annie O'Blenis, North River, and Mrs. Lorne Hope, of Moncton, also survive.
