"Thelma L. Steeves SUSSEX, New Brunswick - The death of Thelma Leona Steeves of Sussex and originally of Pleasant Vale occurred April 6, 2002 at Sus sex after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on November 22, 1920 in Pleasant Vale, she was a daughter of the late James Ralph and Bessie (Colpitts) Prosser. Thelma's husband Clarence Steeves predeceased her in 1988. A mother and grandmother, Thelma dedicated her life to caring for her family and was dearly loved by all. She was a member of the Elgin United Baptist Church and the Pleasant Vale Women's Institute. She is survived by her sons, Gerald (Ruth) of Moncton, Ronald (Lorrie) of Sussex , David (Debbie) of Riverview; nine grandchildren, Marilyn (John) Dunnett, Tammy (Mark) MacDonald, Duane (Suzanne) Steeves, Vicki Steeves, Lori-Ann (Paul) Laur idsen, Beth (Donnie) Benson, Nancy (Neil) Guptill, Kevin (Patti) Steeves and Darin (Jessica) Steeves; 13 great grandchildren, Benjamin, Sarah, Joshua, Isaac, Thomas, Jacob, Daniel, Cassie, Chrissy, Maggie, Tess, Conor and Karina; a brother Ralph (Elsie) Prosser of Riverview; sisters, Leta James of Sydney, NS, Margaret (Harold) Tingley of Moncton and Doris Crawford of Kingston, ON and numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by two sisters Betty and Jean and four brothers Wendell, Donald, Leon and Lloyd. The memorial service will be held at the Sussex Select Community Funeral Home Chapel on Thursday April 11, 2002 at 2:00 PM. Reverend John Dunnett officiating. Interment will take place in the Pleasant Vale Cemetery at a later date.”
