Notes for Victoria Ann Shaw
“Victoria Ann Shaw-Jones as she liked to be known, was a capricious, difficult woman. ... In New Glasgow, in October 1868 she identified herself to the barrister in testimony of intent for real estate they had sold in Moncton as “Alexandrina Victoria Jones”... She separated from her husband, lived in England with Ernest and the two daughters, first in London, then in Kent. Victoria Ann Shaw-Jones went in mourning for Queen Victoria for 10 years! ... She believed in homeopathic medicine, and when William Colpitts Jones was dying of a kidney disease in Staten Island where he lived with his son Percival Shaw Jones’ family, she came from England and threw his medicines out of the window, whereupon he died! ... She died between 1920 and 1923 in England... On her death certificate it was written that she died of “10 years of whooping cough”.”
