The old family bible was said to have read “Crawford Parish”89 but so far I can find no record of a Crawford parish in that region so I suspect the handwriting may have been mistakenly interpreted by someone as Crawford although I have not seen the original. The IGI records clearly show his baptismal record from Gainford parish extracted from the original locality.90
“...the oldest son, John, took to himself a wife and settled where his great grandson, Charles Colpitts, now lives at the corner of the Little River and Colpitts Settlement road. His wife was Miss Eleanor Foster of Amherst.”89
